What makes you say that?

I've found many a rare item on there......
...and have sold a few bits and bobs that nobody I know would buy!

Oh you surely know why!!

e-Bay is evil because it controls you and manipulates you - it's addictive...... it makes you spend loads of money (money that you don't necessarily have) and takes full advantage of your impulsiveness!

How many times has one tried to resist something that they see on offer there but before they know it, they've been cajoled into making their first bid...only to then keep upping their bid as the desire to win the bid takes an inevitable hold!

Yep, it certainly is addictive. I have found that out. Embarrassed
The trick however is NOT to bid until there's 30 seconds left. That way you haven't got a chance to make crazy bids. Do NOT place ANY bids before this!

Oh, I'm guilty of that, m'lud. I usually - in my haste to get bidding - stupidly put my first bid in with a few days to spare - and of course you know what happens next don't you, others come along and up the price with their bids......and so it goes on..... so of course the item ends up going invariably for a hell of a lot more than I originally wished for it to go.....

More recently I have learnt to be more restrained, and only bid at the last few minutes, but it's undeniable that your heart starts to pound when you're counting down those last minutes hoping that no one will nick in and beat you to it. (This will always happen to me cos my connection - from a Macintosh computer remember - the worst thing to have on the internet -  is always slow and some fucker will always delay the countdown to register their winning bid).

I've lost count of the number of times I have misjudged the last minute or dying few seconds and placed a final desperate bid in a scramble to remain the winning bidder only for some smart twat to pre-empt my bid and beat me to the hammer. That fucking annoys me...and as you can see, this is why I believe that bidding on e-Bay - especially when you're locked in a race at the dying seconds - should carry with it a government health warning, cos it's not good for your heart!  Wink
