Translating this review was a bit challenging. But it's good (and fun) to have a reason to train my english vocabulary at last  Grin. So again sorry for grammar, orthography, misunderstanding or whatever.

VISIONS 149 (August 2005)

That’s what they are leaving with: other than slight fare, that hits uninitated people in the stomach, but it more than pleases the fans. Artists! Poets! Heartthieves!...Cannibals?

Two „Oha!“-messages came with this fifth album of Six.by Seven. First: the 30 weeks since the release of the last album „04“ are a very short time period, especially for a band that did their earlier releases in a stomach friendly 2 year rhythm. Second: „A.C.P.T.“ is announced as  the very last album of the always underestimated Nottingham three-piece. That’s why we don’t have to fear that they did halfhearted work in the studio. The history of pop-music says that it is seldom, that a band that splits up in peace and harmony (like here), doesn’t want to invest any more time and strength in their goodbye album. Maybe there’s a live album and an anthology following later – but the true inheritance of Six.by Seven is this album. Because of that: slight fare at the end? Don’t dare to put the skills in question at the end, those that were always out of question since their ’98 debut with the laconic title “The things we make”?  Or? Or! Six.by Seven never made it too easy. Still now they don’t.  “A.C.P.T.” is a little mean bastard of an album. The final challenge to the listener, that shouldn’t be left in the thought that Six.by Seven never had been something else, than the popband that they never had a chance to be. “Nowhere to go but home”, that curtsy to New Order and bassist Peter Hook (on a record that no bass was used on) is the only track that advertises for accomodation; instead of that there are heavy organs (“Got to get it...”), dark pulsing synthies, loud guitars (“Just get it...”) and massive drumbeats (“In my time”). It’s a pleasure to desperately seek access to this album first and then not to want to get out of it again. Thank you and good-bye! See you later?

That New Order/Peter Hook thing was exactly what came into my mind when I heard "Nowhere..." the first time (being a big fan of Joy Division and New Order myself).
